Kelly
Taylor,
Art Director
Memorable Moments
• Meeting with the vice president of marketing for Waverly Paints to discuss
cross-promotion displays for retail settings.
• Seeing the “Welcome to New London” logo proudly displayed
on banners, T-shirts and signs downtown during OpSail 2000.
• Watching OraLine expand from a distributor of single clear toothpaste
for prisons to a developer and distributor of an extensive line of professional
and consumer oral and personal care products.
• Creating the award-winning ad series for the Alliance for Living Anti-Stigma
Campaign and seeing them placed on the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS
website.
Kelly Taylor ’s fine art background enhances her art direction and management
of key accounts such as Definitive Technology, OraLine Inc. and Lawrence & Memorial
Hospital. She has branded Definitive’s national advertising campaigns,
collateral, trade show banners and posters, retail POP, and web presence with
bold color and product features. Kelly has helped evolve OraLine’s
institutional, professional and consumer personal care product lines through
packaging, displays
and sales presentations. Her experience in package design extends into scores
of private label toothpaste box and tube layouts, adhering to FDA and ADA
requirements and maintaining cross-brand images for product families.
Kelly recently worked with Akins’ designers to develop and implement
an updated look for Eastern Federal Bank’s newsprint ads, billboards,
collateral pieces and in-house displays. This was instrumental in expanding
the visibility and presence of the bank in Southeastern Connecticut.
Having worked in the field for over a decade, Kelly has also worked with
several nonprofit organizations and state-funded initiatives including Alliance
for
Living, Child & Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut, Natchaug Hospital,
New London Main Street and The Community Foundation of Southeastern Connecticut.
Kelly’s “Welcome to New London” identity was used on banners,
t-shirts and signs greeting thousands of visitors to Connecticut’s OpSail
2000 Celebration. Her “Read to Succeed” logo created a playful
backdrop for Governor Almond to read to Rhode Island children at the Statehouse,
Warwick’s Barnes & Noble, and The Breakers in Newport. Local nonprofits
have also benefited from Kelly’s artful eye as she has revamped the Child & Family
Agency of SE CT logo and created a new logo for The Community Foundation of
SE CT’s “Let’s Read” program.
Prior to Akins, Kelly gained experience in branding as she worked on the team
that upgraded the brand image of the Sheraton Four Points hotel line through
rack cards, lobby brochures, room pamphlets, and specialty items for frequent
guests. Kelly knows the importance of consistent use of identity in display
and POP, having created display packages for Citibank and Banco Popular New
York Metro branches to promote new consumer banking services. And she helped
fashion the campaign materials to introduce Waverly Interior Paints and Muralo
Paints to national consumer and business-to-business markets, including new
package design, full-page consumer magazine ads, and banner and poster packages
for high-end interior design shops and major retail chains.
When not working, Kelly’s active involvement in the local volleyball
scene and mountain biking circles keeps her fit and feeds her competitive
spirit, while her volunteer time to local nonprofit organizations helps her
give back
to the community.
